Welcome to the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA)
Jammu & Kashmir Chapter
The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) is the National body of Architects in the country. Established in the year 1917, the institute today has more than 25,000 members and plays a major role in promoting the profession of architecture by organizing and uniting the Architects of India to promote aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of the profession both in Practice and in Education.
IIA is represented on various national and international committees connected with architecture, art and the building industry and is also actively associated with International Union of Architects (UIA), The Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) and South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation of Architects (SAARCH). I take this opportunity to give a brief outline as on how our IIA J&K Chapter was formed. The Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir already had a functioning Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Jammu & Kashmir centre since Jan.’ 1996 under Northern Chapter New Delhi. IIA J&K Chapter was formally formed on 09th March’2021.The Chapter today has more than 148 active members and everyone has contributed in one way or the other in making this dream possible.
I also feel happy by informing the gathering that our request for Formation of Srinagar as Sub Centre under Jammu & Kashmir Chapter has been accepted in the IIA National Council Meeting COM – 06 on 29th March 2022. And same has been approved on 15th April 2022. Now we have a functioning IIA Srinagar Sub centre.
